Graspop 2012 | 23 bands announced

After the announcement of Black Sabbath last friday, GMM announces another 22 Bands for their event in 2012.
Here they are:
Gmm 2012 | 22 names

Iron Mask | Black As Death

Iron Mask was formed by Dushan Petrossi, Belgium’s number 1 guitar hero.

Dushan got his first guitar when he was 9 (1982) and never stopped playing for 20 years.
Very early, he played in several cover bands till the day he wanted to compose his own music.

Juvaliant

Juvaliant

Juvaliant - Inhuman Nature

The creativity displayed by the Austrian band JUVALIANT is suggested by the unusual band name. JUVALIANT is a word that they made up themselves and yet there is more behind it than just a bunch of letters. JUVALIANT is the combination of two words: The first part comes from the Latin name of Salzburg, Juvavum and the second part from the English word valiant. Which is very suitable for the Austrian lads' debut album, "Inhuman Nature": prepossessing, progressive, heavy, catchy and often bombastic.

Sonata Arctica | Live In Finland

SONATA ARCTICA will release a live DVD in november. The main show was recorded at Teatria in Oulu, Finland on April 15th, 2011.

Nightwish | Pre-order Storytime

Symphonic metalband NIGHTWISH will release their new single STORYTIME on Friday, November 11th.
The upcoming album IMAGINAERUM will be released in Europe on december 2nd, 2011.

Pukkelpop 2011 | A black day in history

The music festival PUKKELPOP in Kiewit - Hasselt in Belgium has been hit by a very heavy weather storm on thursday evening august 18, 2011. It was the first day of the festival.
The roof of a tent and some other constructions collapsed and trees were uprooted. 5 festivalgoers were killed, and the 3-day festival, which would have run until sunday, has been completely cancelled.

Our thoughts are with all victims.

Dotma

Johanna Lesonen - vocals
Harri Koskela - Keyboards
Leo Saarnisalo - Guitars
Niko Kalliojärvi - Guitars
Jonaas Pykälä-Aho - Drums
Aapo Lindberg - Bass

Dotma is a female-fronted symphonic power metal band from Hyvinkää, Finland.

It was year 2005 when a group of friends decided to form a band that was to be THE power metal band of all time. The idea to the lyrics lay deep within the mysteries of The Middle Ages, you know, in the time when the wild era of mighty dragons still prevailed. The aim was likewise to create pompous and captivating harmonies in the melodies from one to another. The band started to gain its form slowly but still certainly (well, not always that certainly) and in the autumn 2006 the member set-up was finally stable. Rehearsal place became their second home and the setlist kept on increasing.

Strange Karma | Volume 1

Strange Karma released their debut Album "Volume 1" on February 15th, 2011.
The side story about Volume 1 is this CD was recorded in 2007. The band had a few failed contracts which delayed the release of this CD.

Francesco Teopini

Francesco started his music studies at the age of 7 with Michele Corbu and completed his undergraduate study at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica in Bologna, Italy in 2003. He then studied with renowned guitarists Michael Lewin and Timothy Walker at the Royal Academy of Music in London and was awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Guitar Performance with distinction and the LRAM in teaching in June 2008.
During his two years at the Academy, he won the Blyth Watson Award and the Foundation Award and was very highly commended in the Julian Bream Prize by the maestro itself, getting the 2nd place.

Francesco has played in important venues such as the Duke´s Hall and the Bolivar Hall in London, Amnesty International in Perugia and the Teatro degli Avvaloranti for the 4th Right Profit Guitar Festival in Citta´ della Pieve organized by the "David and Maria Russell" Right Profit Association, where he gave a very successful performance of the Concerto in D by Castelnuovo-Tedesco with the Tokushima Bunri University Orchestra from Tokyo conducted by the famous Italian conductor Tonino Battista, followed then by his highly-acclaimed Asian debut in Japan in November 2008 and in Hong Kong in December 2008.

Francesco Teopini had also his second Japanese tour in March 2010, playing in some of the most important concert halls of the country including the Nikkei Hall in Tokyo, the Handa City's Planetarium and the Yamaha Hall in Hamamatsu.
Highly recommended by 2005 Grammy Award Winner David Russell as a `first class´ guitarist with `security and confidence in his playing, as well as technical excellence´ and by the great guitarist, composer and musicologist Angelo Gilardino, Italian guitarist Francesco Teopini is considered one of the most promising young performers of his generation.

"I have known Francesco for some years and have seen his development from a talented guitar student to a young professional musician.
This Spring I was very happy to hear him play a concerto with orchestra and he showed security and confidence in his playing, as well as technical excellence. All of this made it a first class performance and proved that he has a bright future in his guitar playing career."

- David Russell

"The young guitarist Francesco Teopini has completed his course of study in a brilliant and diversified way, and therefore has a serious and deep preparation. In listening to him, however, you get the feeling that the academic acquisitions have not changed his way of making music, which is distinguished by his spontaneity and his communicative verve: he was born to donate the gift of music to the public."

- Angelo Gilardino

Syrayde | Biography

Valeria Battain - guitars
David Donati - guitars
Ivan Moni Bidin - drums
Fabio d'Amore - bass & vocals

In November 2008 Syrayde found stability with the arrival of great guitarist David Donati.
The band established their own sound as a mixture of heavy metal, with melodic sounds and modern gothic influences.

Another addition to Syrayde’s line-up is famed French keyboarder Philippe Giordana (Fairyland, Magic Kingdom, Iron Mask), who recorded his parts for Syrayde’s debut album during 2010. At the end of the same year, the line-up was finally complete : Cinthia, a new-comer female singer established the final touch, with her fresh and beautiful voice, to Syrayde’s music, ready to record all lead vocals for the full-length.

Walter Martinez - Guitar
Emilio Coello - Guitar
Tom Myers - Bass
Gabriel Lopez - Drums
Los Angeles, USA. This new breed of sub-genre consists of the musical heaviness of Black/Death Metal and the strong and memorable melodies of classic heavy metal. In fact, they are the only Dark Power Metal act in existence in the states or even the world. Their influences stem from melodic giants such as, Helloween and Stratovarius; the musical brutality of Dimmu Borgir and the heart stopping live show of Iron Maiden.

In 3 years they have already released a 5 song EP called “Nightmares Made Flesh” and a full length CD, compellingly named “Divine Darkness”, which has not disappointed the review critics. Since the release of their latest CD's, they have toured several times nationally throughout 2009 and 2010; all the while performing sold out shows with likes of Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica and GammaRay. You see, commanding a crowd of thousands is not the issue for them. Their goal is to enslave millions of metal heads to be our faithful followers in the decades to come.

Not only has Shadows Entwined performed over a hundred shows, they have won several battle of the bands in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. They are being played on Internet metal shows' regular rotation. Their CD's are selling exponentially throughout the USA, Mexico, South America, and Japan. New and exciting things are underway for 2011 as Shadows Entwined will be releasing their 3rd CD called “Pathway To Infinity”, which is set to release very soon. Let the Shadows consume you!
